About the Opportunity 

The Fitness Centre Supervisor is responsible and accountable for supporting Fitness Centre Management to ensure that operations within the Leisure department at the RACV property run smoothly and efficiently. Ensuring that departmental, divisional, and corporate objectives are achieved while building member benefits and generating increased business opportunities.

The role is focused on ensuring that the day-to-day requirements of all Fitness areas across the RACV property, including the gymnasium, group exercise and aquatics facilities, as well as outdoor leisure facilities including the tennis court and associated facilities are delivered to a consistently high standard and that the appropriate level of service to members, guests and visitors is maintained.

As a Fitness Centre Supervisor, your key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Supervise and coordinate the Fitness Centre team and resources in the most efficient and effective manner to meet daily maintenance plans, business objectives and customer requirements. 

  • Provide effective ‘hands on’ leadership to individuals through the creation of a safe, team orientated, challenging and motivating work environment to deliver high quality member services that provide value and benefit. 

  • Monitor daily maintenance and cleaning of the fitness facilities ensuring presentation is always at the agreed standard, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

  • Assist in preparing a detailed annual sports and leisure activity plan encompassing all fitness facilities and incorporating member and guest interest groups and school holiday activities.

  • Management of the team roster and timecard approvals, recruitment and maintenance and development of personnel under supervision.

     

 What you’ll need to be successful 

  •  Certificate III & IV in Fitness

  • Level 2 First Aid

  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate

  • Previous experience at a supervisor level within the Health and Fitness industry

  • An understanding of the function of the Fitness Centre and industry.

  • Experience in staff management practices including recruiting, rewarding, appraising, counselling and staff development.

  • Strong leadership and operational management skills

  • Ability to quickly build rapport and develop internal and external networks.
