About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Irrigation Technician to join our golf course maintenance team. In this physical role, you’ll play a key role in the operation, maintenance, repair, and development of irrigation and drainage systems across our championship golf course and resort grounds.

Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, your key responsibilities include:
- Perform regular irrigation system maintenance to industry standards
- Monitor and maintain automated irrigation systems (eg Rainbird)
- Diagnose faults and complete timely repairs to minimise disruption to play
- Identify opportunities to optimise systems through technology upgrades and water conservation measures
- Liaise with contractors and communicate daily irrigation programming needs to management
- Ensure compliance with Gold Coast City Water Guidelines for recycled water usage.
- Maintain safety standards by barricading work areas, displaying signage, and notifying stakeholders.
- Document and report all works, faults, and issues accurately
- Assist the team to undertake general duties as required
Royal Pines is open 7 days week. Our golf course maintenance team work 38 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 5.30am-2pm, Friday 5.30am-11.30am and one rotating weekend per month, Saturday & Sunday 5am-9am. Availability to work these hours is required.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Knowledge of irrigation principles, hydraulics, and electrical systems, with experience in Rainbird or Toro irrigation operating systems
- Certificate in irrigation or plumbing
- Current drivers licence, essential
- Confined space entry permit/licence, desirable
- Experience with high-pressure pipes and fittings
- Comprehensive understanding of irrigation systems and troubleshooting automated sprinklers
- Knowledge of recycled water guidelines and safe repair processes
- Ability to identify faults, troubleshoot effectively, and implement timely solutions
- Skilled in manual tasks, excavation, skid steer operation, and manual handling
- Eye for detail and take pride in your work
- Clear communication skills and work well in a team environment
- Understanding of work health and safety practices
- Ability to perform physical requirements of manual labour & heavy lifting
