About the Opportunity

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Conference & Events Duty Manager to join our conference and events team. You will be an integral part of the team to ensure the business operates efficiently. You'll be leading a large team of dedicated food and beverage professionals – supervisors, team leaders & operations staff who deliver guests great customer service & an exceptional experience. Full availability to work a weekly rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holiday is essential in this role.

Reporting to the Conference & Events Operations Manager, we’re looking for someone who is adaptable with a ‘can-do’ attitude. In a fast-paced service driven environment, you’ll help to set best practice standards and build effective relationships with resort departments such as logistics, sales & events, kitchen, purchasing and security. Your key responsibilities for the role include:

 

  • Provide effective ‘hands on’ leadership to a large team promoting our culture & values 
  • Lead by example, perform F&B duties, direct & assist the team to carry out duties ensuring exceptional service is delivered to guests 
  • Maintain operating procedures and identify improvements to operating efficiencies 
  • Maintain a knowledge of products & services, cross sell and upsell  
  • Build & maintain effective relationships with internal & external stakeholders 
  • Manage Kronos, staff rostering, labour expenses, training, reviews, reward & recognition 
  • Manage staff performance, agency staff, breaks and uniform presentation standards 
  • Contribute towards reducing costs, ensuring wastage and breakages are minimised 
  • Reporting, complete daily cash up, and authorise transactions voids, cancellations, and refunds 
  • Manage feedback & resolve difficult situations 
  • Ensure a safe workplace is maintained and promote safe work practices 
  • Perform physical requirements of the role, e.g. working on your feet & heavy lifting 

  

What you’ll need to be successful

 

  • Previous experience in team leadership role within a conference & events or 4–5-star hotel/resort environment 
  • Flexibility & full availability to work a rotating roster 
  • Recognised qualification in hospitality or food & beverage, desirable 
  • RSA Certificate
  • In depth knowledge of wines, beverages and food and beverage service in a la carte, banquet & buffet procedures 
  • Experience in staff management practices including recruitment, rewarding, training, appraising, counselling and development 
  • Understanding of labour and beverage cost control 
  • Experience in POS & MS Office applications 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, organisational and time management skills 
  • Decision making, problem solving and conflict resolution skills 
  • Passion for C&E, service excellence and knowledge of industry trends 
  • Excellent grooming and personal presentation 
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Qld WWCC Blue Card
