About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Horticulturalist to join our team on a full time basis to assist with golf course & Resort grounds operations and maintenance. The successful applicant will bring with them their horticultural knowledge to maintain and enhance the resort grounds whilst safely operating turf equipment and the use of chemicals as required as well as chainsaw operation certification.
Duties will also include maintenance, cutting and trimming propagation of course landscapes throughout.

Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, this is an active hands on role, working in a team, autonomously or without supervision. Your key responsibilities for the role include:
- Perform general grounds duties such as planting, mowing, landscaping, applying fertilisers and water system maintenance
- Operate machinery and maintain equipment, performing safe work practices
- Ensure a high standard of quality presentation is maintained
- Complete tasks within the designated time frames and to a high standard
- Ensure a safe workplace is maintained
- Interact with guests and visitors to provide a high standard of customer service and a memorable experience
RACV Cape Schanck is open 7 days week. Our golf course maintenance team work 38 hours per week. Shift time are Monday-Thursday 6.00am-2pm, Friday 6.00am-12.00pm and one rotating weekend (Saturday & Sunday morning) per month. Availability to work these hours is required.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Certificate or Diploma in Horticulture
- Time management skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and tidiness around the Resort by performing general duties
- Ability to prioritise tasks with consideration to OHS requirements
- Show high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and be a proactive team member and effective communication
- Work well in a team environment
- Attention to detail, take pride in work, use initiative and can problem solve
