About the role
We are seeking a Senior Developer who is both a hands-on technical expert and a trusted technical leader. This role plays a critical part in shaping technical direction, influencing technology strategy, and supporting business outcomes through strong stakeholder engagement.
Reporting to the Development Manager, the Senior Developer is a trusted senior member of the Development team, providing technical leadership and oversight to agency contractors. The role carries significant influence across engineering, product, sales and executive stakeholders, and provides leadership continuity through relief support to the manager when required.
What you’ll be doing
As the Senior Developer, you will be responsible for the following:
- Provide technical leadership across the design, delivery, deployment and support of Intelematics’ cloud native platforms
- Influence and help set technical standards, architecture patterns and development practices across the organisation
- Lead and mentor engineers, fostering capability uplift, engagement and a strong team culture
- Act as a key escalation point for complex technical issues and delivery risks
- Partner closely with Product, Architecture, Cyber Security, Sales and Commercial teams to translate business and customer needs into robust technical solutions
- Play a pivotal role in pre‑sales engagement, providing technical input, solution design and credibility with large automotive OEM customers
- Influence and contribute to the technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with business strategy, scalability and security requirements
- Champion continuous improvement, modern DevOps practices, automation and the effective use of AI tools to drive productivity
- Collaborate closely with the Development Manager to support delivery planning and prioritisation and assist with people‑focused activities as required.
Stakeholder engagement & influence
This role has strong exposure across the business and externally. You will:
- Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders across engineering, product, UX, sales and RACV group functions
- Influence decisions through clear communication of complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Act as a bridge between technical capability and commercial outcomes, ensuring solutions meet customer, operational and security expectations
- Engage with external partners, vendors and customers, including AWS and automotive OEMs, representing Intelematics with confidence and credibility
What you’ll bring
- 10+ years’ experience in complex, enterprise or digital environments (Agile/SAFe experience preferred)
- Proven experience leading and influencing technical teams
- Strong cloud and DevOps expertise, with AWS strongly preferred
- Advanced hands‑on development experience with Java (Spring/Hibernate) and Python, and modern microservices architectures
- Experience building high‑volume, scalable and secure platforms
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and uplift team capability
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to influence stakeholders and guide technical decisions
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline
- AWS certification (Associate or Solution Architect) highly regarded
