Join our team of business professionals doing meaningful work in an organisation that’s ever evolving. Work with people who care and expand your career with opportunities only a diverse business can provide. With license to see things through your way, and the option to split your time between office and home, RACV is where you’ll make a difference.
About the Opportunity
As the Risk & Compliance Team Leader, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping RACV’s people risk landscape. You’ll lead key control reviews and ensure that risk and compliance frameworks across our People & Culture (P&C) operations are both robust and effective — empowering RACV to operate confidently within its risk appetite.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of developing and maintaining compliance assurance plans for critical legislative obligations, with a particular focus on pay and entitlements. You’ll provide trusted advice to senior leaders on emerging compliance risks and regulatory changes, helping to guide RACV’s strategic decisions and protect our people and our brand.
Leading by example, you’ll mentor and coach a talented team of risk and compliance professionals, fostering technical excellence and a strong culture of accountability. You’ll also collaborate across functions to deliver high-impact initiatives that strengthen our control environment and embed continuous improvement across RACV.
This is a dynamic role for someone who thrives on challenge, collaboration, and influence. If you’re passionate about building strong compliance foundations, driving meaningful change, and supporting a trusted and resilient organisation, this position will give you the platform to make a real impact.
Come along for a new journey
You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our People & Culture team operates with integrity, confidence, and compliance. Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll be doing:
- Lead the design, delivery, and oversight of P&C’s annual controls testing program to assess adequacy and effectiveness of key controls.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor compliance obligation plans for high-risk areas, including employment legislation, National Employment Standards, Modern Awards, and Enterprise Agreements.
- Ensure compliance with P&C policies, procedures, and industrial instruments through regular monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
- Lead cross-functional teams within and beyond P&C on critical risk and compliance initiatives, provide expert technical guidance, coaching, and ensure consistent application of P&C Risk and Compliance standards.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within RACV’s control environment by constructively engaging with control owners to identify and resolve control gaps
- Provide upwards challenge and support to key control owners to improve RACVs control environment post control reviews (through agreed management actions) and through day-to-day interactions
- Collaborate with key stakeholders within P&C and Risk and Legal to govern regulatory changes within P&C and provide reports to the P&C LT and Risk and Legal as required
- Support the P&C Operations and Compliance Manager to identify emerging risks and to review existing P&C risks and controls in line with RACVs Risk and Control Self-Assessment process.
- Collaborate within RACV and with external partners to identify best practice approaches to compliance management that can be incorporated into P&C's operations.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Minimum of 3 years in a P&C Risk and Compliance team, ideally in a people and culture/employment relations field
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, National Employment Standards, Modern Awards, and Enterprise Agreements.
- Demonstrated experience in risk management, compliance frameworks, and control testing within a People & Culture or HR environment.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory and industrial obligations into practical policies and procedures.
- Skilled in monitoring, maintaining, and reporting on issues and compliance registers.
- Competence in preparing clear, data-driven risk and compliance reports, insights, and recommendations for leadership and governance forums.
