About the Opportunity
As a Cyber Security Architect at RACV, you’ll lead the delivery of secure technology solutions and drive continuous improvement in our cyber security practices. Working within a mature, ISO27001 standard-aligned environment, you’ll help deliver our enterprise-wide security vision and uplift our frameworks, patterns, and assurance across both on-premises and cloud platforms. Your expertise will support RACV’s Security Program objectives and empower teams to consistently meet user needs at every stage.

You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our Cyber Security Team delivers exceptional service. Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll be doing:
· Design and deliver secure, pragmatic technology solutions across applications, infrastructure, networks and cloud.
· Develop and maintain security patterns, standards and reference architectures to embed secure‑by‑design practices.
· Assess risk and compliance, perform solution security reviews, and support audits and remediation plans.
· Provide expert consulting to stakeholders, clarify options and trade‑offs, and facilitate collaboration across diverse teams.
· Drive continuous improvement in cyber security practices and evaluate emerging technologies for organisational impact.
· Work with key technologies such as SIEM, firewalls, endpoint protection, IAM, network segmentation, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
· Communicate clearly, producing design artefacts and risk assessments, and translating complex ideas for technical and non‑technical audiences.
What you’ll need to be successful
· Experience: Substantial professional experience and credibility (generally 10+ years) in cyber security architecture or closely related disciplines.
· Strong Communication Skills: Clear, impactful communication (oral, written, presentation)
· Leadership & business skills: Operational leadership; work autonomously to provide operational leadership, driving requirements analysis, risk assessment, and strategic decision-making, while sharing knowledge and fostering growth across RACV’s security function.
· Consulting & architecture depth: Advising on standards, methods, tools, and processes; making appropriate choices from alternatives; applying innovative thinking and design practices to deliver stakeholder value.
· Technology insight: Understanding the organisational impact of new technologies and digital services; creatively applying design to produce secure, scalable solutions.
· Security mindset: Proactively contributing to security, privacy, and ethics through appropriate working practices and culture.
Qualifications & industry affiliations
- Degree in a relevant discipline with extensive industry experience.
- Affiliations/certifications (preferred): ACS, Financial Services/Regulated industry exposure, ASA, ACSC; ITIL, Agile and Waterfall delivery methods; Cloud Engineering (Microsoft or Amazon); CISSP
