About the opportunity
As our Communication and Media Manager, you’ll shape how RACV shows up externally, driving day‑to‑day media and corporate communications that influence public conversation, strengthen trust and protect our reputation.
Partnering closely with the Head of Corporate Communications and senior stakeholders across Policy & Advocacy, Community Partnerships and major strategic initiatives, you’ll cut through complexity to deliver confident, well‑timed and impactful communications across RACV’s most visible and high‑profile work.
What you’ll do
- Support the Head of Communications with the day-to-day external communications delivery, prioritising work, allocating resources and overseeing outputs.
- Drive proactive and reactive media activity (briefs, messaging, releases, pitching, spokesperson prep).
- Play a hands-on role in issues management, incident response and the on-call media roster.
- Coordinate corporate governance communications (Annual Review, AGM comms, website content, Modern Slavery and Tax Transparency reporting).
- Manage content production across channels (web, internal, social, video) and ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Improve workflows, tools and templates; manage external agencies and media monitoring partners; report on coverage and activity.
What you’ll bring
- Strong media relations experience (proactive pitching + reactive handling).
- Excellent writing and verbal communication—able to simplify complex information.
- Sound judgement in reputation-sensitive situations and fast-moving issues.
- Proven ability to lead people and deliver through others (while staying hands-on).
- Strong stakeholder influence and cross-functional leadership.
- Analytical and reporting capability; confident presenter.
Qualifications & experience
- Tertiary qualification in Journalism, PR, Communications (or similar).
- Experience in corporate comms/PR in a large, complex or consumer-facing organisation.
- Track record delivering proactive and reactive media outcomes and protecting reputation.
- Experience working in integrated comms environments (brand, marketing, content, social).
- Familiarity with media monitoring/evaluation tools and using insights to refine activity.
