About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Assistant Accountant will deliver accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations and identify system/process issues impacting financial reporting integrity

You will be the primary point of contact for all general ledger reconciliation services to designated customer groups (departments) and also responsible for investigating, clearance, and reporting of reconciling items.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure reconciliations are prepared, reconciling items identified, followed up and cleared within agreed timeframes.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the relevant process and procedure documentation including BlackLine policies.
  • Responsible for fixed assets transaction processing and reconciliations. Transactions processed in line with the RACV policies and relevant accounting documentation.  This includes internal order creation, releasing of asset purchase orders, processing asset transfers, disposals and stock takes processing
  • Administer debtor management function and provide support to designated divisions/departments. Document accounting processes within area of responsibility.
  • Recommend and implement business/process simplification initiatives, identify areas of financial control weakness and recommend improvement

  • Tertiary qualifications in fields of business, accounting and/or economics.
  • Experience of general ledger and bank reconciliations 
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and processes
  • Intermediate knowledge of financial and management accounting theory and practice
  • Ability to analyse problems and propose solutions
  • Strong team player  
  • Communication: listening, oral, written
  • Intermediate PC skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Commercial acumen
  • Relationship management
